How do people living in Istanbul form a connection with water and the city? How do different places interconnect in our personal histories?

In the exhibition  By the Water: The Life and Art of Halil Paşa participants begin to reflect on their relationship with water and the city, drawing inspiration from the artist’s landscape paintings that specifically depict Istanbul’s waterfronts. During this process, they discuss the connections they establish between different cities, countries, and personal memories. They then create works using natural materials such as sand, stone, seawater, tree bark, and feathers, along with colors, to reflect the connections they have established between water, the city, and their personal experiences.

Note: Participants are encouraged to bring objects, textures, or different materials that catch their interest from their neighborhoods to the workshop.
