Sagopa Kajmer, born in 1978 in Samsun, Turkey, is originally named Yunus Özyavuz. From a young age, he was exposed to various musical cultures through his family, shaping his artistic vision. In the early 1990s, with the emergence of private radio stations in Turkey, he began his professional music career as a DJ at a local radio station in Samsun.

A graduate of Istanbul University’s Department of Persian Language and Literature, Sagopa Kajmer worked as a DJ and music director at major radio stations such as Power FM, Metro FM, Number One FM, and Radio 2019 during his university years. At the same time, he gained recognition as a producer and became one of the most influential names in the Turkish rap scene by 1998.

Sagopa Kajmer founded the group Kuvvetmira and continued his musical journey for many years under the stage name Silahsız Kuvvet, before eventually adopting the name Sagopa Kajmer. He has produced numerous albums and songs considered classics in Turkish rap history.

In 2004, he reached a wide audience and earned significant acclaim through the soundtrack of the film G.O.R.A.. Since 2005, he has continued his career under his own label, Melankolia Müzik. With dozens of albums he has produced, hundreds of songs he has created, and the many MCs he has supported, he is regarded as one of the biggest contributors to the development of Turkish rap.

Sagopa Kajmer is recognized as one of the most prolific artists not only in rap music but across the entire Turkish music industry.
