April 30 International Jazz Day: From Script to Screen
On International Jazz Day, we explore the world where notes meet frames and stories are rewritten through sound. For the 15th session of the Jazz Listening Club, hosted by Akbank Sanat and fugamundi, we dive into the intersection of cinema and jazz.
Theme: From Script to Screen: The Journey of Film Music How does music shift the soul of a script? How does a scene transform when it finds its true resonance? We will explore how a composer guides the frame and how that elusive "cinematic" feeling is meticulously constructed.
Event Flow
• Part One: We will listen to tracks selected from cinema history and the depths of jazz, discussing the bond between sound and scene.
• Part Two: The floor is yours. We will randomly select and listen to tracks recommended by the audience that resonate with the theme.
About the Guest: Ahmet Kenan Bilgiç Widely known as the voice and guitarist of Gevende, Ahmet Kenan Bilgiç is an award-winning composer and producer. Having composed for international projects such as the Sundance winner Butterflies, Ivy, and Hakkı, he is also the founder of LU Records and London-based Comfortnoise. He currently continues his creative work represented by the French agency Grande Ourse.
