Yasak Helva is an İzmir-based three-piece “electric folk” band. The group brings together the rich musical heritage of Anatolia, the Balkans, the Middle East and the Caucasus through a contemporary live sound.

Built around electro-acoustic cümbüş, çağlama, bass and drums, Yasak Helva combines traditional melodies with influences from jazz, rock, arabesque and psychedelic music. Featuring Salih Korkut Peker, Onur Ertem and Hakan Görkem Bıyık, the band is known for its high-energy live performances.

After reaching a wider audience with their 2019 debut album Rektefe, Yasak Helva continued its original songwriting journey with its second album, Atamba, released in 2025. The group brings traditional sounds to the stage with a modern, vibrant interpretation.
