Candan Erçetin was born on February 10, 1963, in Kırklareli, Turkey. She is a Turkish pop and classical music singer, songwriter, composer, and lecturer. Known for her powerful voice and her ability to blend different musical styles, Erçetin is considered one of the most respected and successful artists in Turkish music.
Candan Erçetin developed an interest in music at an early age. After finishing primary school, she moved to Istanbul, where she graduated from Galatasaray High School. She then studied Archaeology at Istanbul University while continuing her musical education through conservatories and private lessons.
Candan Erçetin began her professional music career in the late 1980s. After working as a soloist with various orchestras, she released her first solo album, "Hazırım" ("I’m Ready"), in 1995. This album marked a major turning point in her career and helped her gain wide recognition across Turkey.
In addition to her music career, Candan Erçetin is also active in academia. She works as a music lecturer at Galatasaray University, where she teaches music theory and music history. She has also taken part in several social responsibility projects and continues to play an active role in various music-related events.
