Marilyn Mazur

Percussionist, pianist and composer Mazur got her start in the arts first by  studying piano and ballet and later by forming a percussion group called “Six Winds” in 1975.In 1985 she joined the Miles Davis orchestra. This was followed by various collaborations with Gil Evans, Wayne Shorter and Jan Garbarek. Mazur was an active member in the groups “Future Song” and “Percussion Paraside”. Marilyn Mazur was  chosen for “percussion-talent deserving wider recognition” by Down Beat magazine in 1989, 1990 and 1995. In the mean time, in 2001 she was awarded the prestigious “Jazzpar” prize. By using various instruments such as bells and wooden drums, Marilyn Mazur impresses jazz lovers with her extraordinary performances. Mazur likes to tell different stories in her performances with various authentic instruments which she has collected from her travels to different countries.
